...Sometimes it's a supernatural transport to the rest of your existence.
We met on an eight-hour bus ride from LA to NorCal, when neither of us wanted anything more than solitude. Between cities, between lives, far from any home we'd known, we stumbled and waltzed into The Future.
We were married at the Ljubljana Castle a year later.
After docking in Ireland for nearly two years, we went island-hopping across Croatia on our honeymoon, eventually returning to California. We jumped out of a plane in Byron, climbed rust-colored hills at Giant's Causeway, scaled sharp cliffs at Inishowen, explored druidic ruins at the Hill of Tara, swam in the balmy Adriatic sea, kayaked on Soča's ice-blue water, skipped along Dubrovnik's fortress walls hand in hand and drove across America together. We embarked on new career paths and evolved on fast-forward.
Once the engines cooled, we were finally ready to party. A hotel in the heart of historical Ljubljana turned into an otherworldly forest where we feasted, laughed and danced into the night. The Castle watched the revelry from its hilltop perch – we'd like to think it approved.

We collaborated on this concept with photographer Primož Lukežič, who built most of the branch frame and helped us realize the backdrop. We brought all the props with us from the States and are wondering what customs thought of our suitcase filled with moss, tank helmets, feathers and goggles, among other curious items.
Our lush botanical paradise was a joint effort between Zo, G's mother, Tanja, and visionary florist, Marjan Lovšin, who went as far as the Netherlands to acquire some of the specimens for our creation.
Special thanks to Dedi for letting us pilfer blackberries from his beautiful garden.
And, finally, massive thanks to everyone who participated in our instant photo contest – we love them all! Seriously.
